Panasonic is one of the leading names in the tech industry, and they take that title seriously by constantly releasing new products, models, and updates on the market. The latest update to Lumix G Vario will include better weather protection to allow users to get most out of their lens and enhance the quality of photographs even in the harshest conditions.
The Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH POWER O.I.S. zoom lens comes with an improved splash and dust-proof construction. Although these updates and improvements are significant and are bound to help photographers make better images, the price will remain unchanged. This is particularly useful if we bear in mind that brands tend to boost the price of some products with each new upgrade.
The lens is equivalent to 28-280mm on a Micro Four Thirds body, and it features the same optics as previous models. Interestingly, the lens is quite compact if you take into consideration 14 elements, 240 fps AF control, and seven-blade aperture. The weight of the lens is 9.4oz (265g) while the length is 2.95″ (75mm). Fourteen elements are divided into 12 groups. The system of the lens comes with three aspherical lenses and two extra-low dispersion (ED) lenses which allow users to accomplish downsizing of the potent 10x optical zoom lens while minimizing chromatic aberration and distortion.
The whole purpose behind the last update was to make the lens more effective for heavy field use but also to retain lightweight nature and compact profile. Even though this isn’t easy to achieve it seems that Panasonic has done a really great job, but it’s still necessary to wait for user reviews to see how the new lens actually behaves on the field.
The practical zoom range of 14-140mm is suitable for a number of different situations such as capturing dynamic landscapes, shooting portraits with defocused backgrounds, and bringing subjects up close. Thanks to O.I.S. (optical image stabilizer) it’s not that difficult to achieve large and slow movements as well as small and fast movements. In fact, the new lens will make it easy to shoot clear shots even low-lit environment and situations, nighttime, and indoor. Smooth and silent operation is yet another important feature of the latest Panasonic model. Both photo and videos are taken with high speed and precision for optimal results and breathtaking images.
The lens is constructed of a metal mount featuring multi-coated lens elements that work to bring flare and ghosts to the minimum.
Shipment of the new and improved lens is expected to start in May 2019. All in all, the upgrade is meant to make life easier for photographers, especially those who don’t always shoot in optimal conditions and environments. The new lens is not only better protected but also gives better image quality and comes with useful features that will give users more options to capture breathtaking photos.
