Three new lenses join the array of lens options for full frame cameras. Tamron has announced the development of three new lenses for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. Two of the lenses are for full-frame DSLR cameras. The third lens is for full-frame mirrorless cameras.
The company has recently announced that it is developing a “compact portrait zoom” lens (35-150mm f/2.8-4 Di VC OSD) and a prime lens (SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD) for both Canon and Nikon DSLRs. Also under development is a fast wide-angle zoom lens (17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD) for Sony mirrorless cameras.
Tamron has yet to announce the pricing and release dates for these new lenses, but will display the lenses at CP+ 2019 world imaging event premier which will hold in Pacifico Yokohama, Japan, from 28 February to 03 March.
Tamron 35-150mm f/2.8-4 Di VC OSD (Model A043)

Tamron’s 35-150mm f/2.8-4 ‘fast portrait zoom’ lens is a variable aperture lens that is compatible with the Canon EF and Nikon F mounts. The design of the new compact Tamron 35-150mm f/2.8-4 facilitate fast handling and ease of transport.
It incorporates the optimum portrait shooting focal length of 85mm with a zoom extending from 35mm to 150mm. This lens is just slightly less than speedy at portrait lengths. A relatively fast f/2.8 aperture is possible at the wide end. However, this speed reduces as it approaches the longer telephoto end where it delivers a bright f/4 aperture.
Tamron 35mm boasts a close 0.45m (17.72- inch) focusing distance across the zoom range. It is equipped with Low Dispersion glass elements and aspherical lenses to help reduce optical aberrations. It features a Dual Micro-Processing Unit which ensures an excellent AF performance as well as effective vibration compensation.
Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD (Model F045)

The second lens under development is the SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD — a fast fixed focal lens. Specially designed for Canon EF-mount and Nikon F-mount DSLRs, this prime lens boasts an interestingly fast optic. In addition to its appealing background bokeh, this lens features a fast f/1.4 aperture and high-speed, high-precision AF functionality. It offers many other features which increase operability, convenience, durability, and diverse applicability.
According to the lens manufacturer, the Model F045 boldly represents an accumulation of Tamron’s craftsmanship and expertise in lens production. It embodies all optical technology and manufacturing knowledge that Tamron has developed in its 40 years of producing the Tamron SP lens series. The Model F045 was developed to mark the 40th anniversary of the series.
Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A046)

The Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD is an ultra wide-angle lens with fast fixed-aperture zoom. It is lightweight and compact which makes it suitable for Sony’s E-mount mirrorless system. It comes with a modest filter size of 67mm and a 0.19m focusing distance at the wider end.
The Tamron’s RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor enables it to deliver a high-speed, high-precision and quiet autofocus, which makes it an appealing lens for videography as well as stills. The Model A046 delivers high-resolution and contrast edge to edge. It combines an ultra wide-angle focal length with a fast consistent f/2.8 aperture which makes it suitable for capturing in diverse scenarios.
