Depends on What You Need

I rented this lens for a wedding I recently shot. It arrived a day early than everything else, so I was able to test it out a good bit. I'm sure glad I did. This lens is beautiful wide open in some dark places where there is little contrast. My biggest issues with the lens is the auto focus. I discovered how slow it was and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I could have focused the image faster with my hand and just eye balling it (and I am horrible at manually focusing at wide apertures). For this purpose, I didn't even reach for it at my wedding. I think I used it for a 5 minutes because I was shooting in a very dark hotel room, then I switched it because I had to be a good 3 feet away to focus this lens. The few test photos I shot the day before were pretty, but I don't think I will be renting this lens anytime soon again. But again, what do you need this lens for? My needs for this wedding didn't call for such a specific lens. Also the abberations wide open on this lens is unreal. Images would be unusable if you were shooting video wide open.

The Best Portrait Lens Ever!

I absolutely love this lens! I was able to rent it out for a studio shoot I had and the pictures were flawless. It is the perfect prime lens for portraits and the perfect sidekick when you are creating in the studio. It definitely made my job easy! I can't wait to rent this lens again!
