Nikon Corporation has officially announced the release of a compact digital camera – the Nikon COOLPIX W150. The W150 is one of the five new cameras that users are expecting from Nikon. Not only does the new camera offer waterproofing and shockproofing capabilities, but it’s also affordable. Users can capture memorable moments at the beach and in various other locations as it’s both dust-proof and cold-proof.
In addition to its compactness, its rounded design enables both children and adults to easily handle the new camera. Boasting 13.2 million effective pixels, the camera comes with a 3x optical zoom NIKKOR lens. But with Dynamic Fine Zoom, users can achieve about 6x zoom while retaining high resolution throughout the digital zoom range.
Users also have access to a collection of scene modes and editing functions that allows for unique possibilities and facilitate the preservation of memorable experiences. One such function enables the recording of Full HD (in 1920 x 1080 format) movies with stereo sound.
Furthermore, it is compatible with SnapBridge which allows users to automatically download high-quality photos to a smart device for easy sharing of photos. Additionally, the Nikon COOLPIX W150 camera body comes in new and exciting colors and patterns. It’s available in the popular basic blue and white options, as well as three new patterns – resort, flower, and orange.

The new COOLPIX W150 is adaptable to diverse shooting conditions. The camera is suitable for underwater to a depth of 10m (33ft). It’s dustproof and cold-resistant which enables it to survive in cold temperatures of as low as -10°C/14°F. Additionally, it can withstand falls from a height of 1.8m because it’s shockproof.
The Nikon COOLPIX W150 has a 1/3.1-inch sensor with 13.2 million effective pixels and 3x optical zoom lens just like the Coolpix W100 and the same 3x optical zoom lens on the front. A large, anti-reflective LCD screen is just around the back which aids visibility underwater. Additionally, a new Underwater Face Framing mode takes four shots of a face each time it sees it. It’s capable of shooting Full HD videos with stereo sound at 30fps.
The COOLPIX W150 has several cool capturing functions and editing effects that allow for unique possibilities. These include Target Finding AF function, Smile Timer function, Image Lock function, Underwater Face Framing, Shoot underwater, Add Clarity Underwater, etc. Furthermore, the electronic vibration reduction (VR) function effectively reduces blur caused by camera shake.
User-Friendly Functions
With a modified graphical user interface (GUI) and customizable operations, the camera is easy to use by beginners. The camera has a moderately curved form which means even children with small hands can comfortably hold and use it.
The camera promises to be fun with its ‘Fun Variety menu’ and interactive features. In addition to shooting full HD videos at 30fps with stereo sound, the COOLPIX W150 can connect to Nikon’s SnapBridge through Android and iOS SnapBridge apps.
